You brits are way too polite, you don't need to excuse yourself or say something positive first in orded to critize ;- ) I am interested in your sentence "my original model" ? Is this your model that can be downloaded somewhere ? Alright, my critique: Change mapping to exponential to avoid the burning. Change the white material to slightly gray. There is never perfect white facade, the lightning will make it white, while illuminating the whole scene without burning it like now. I presure it's still Vray Sun and Sky, up the subdivs, atleast to 8-12, default it's 3. Change the size to 2-3 to soften the shadows, they are too strong right now with no softening at the end. Change water color, it shoudn't actually have fog in it. Should be clear and take color from sky and the pool material. Lessen the bump. way too strong.
bro, i always looking forward for your technical advice! i would kiss u if u are a girl. lols =D telling u the truth, there is still a lot of term and minor setting in vray which i had any idea what is it actually for. but yes, still slowly to catch-up. with all the pros help of course. about the pool, i think its because of the angle. already put full refraction in that. but still cant c thru. will try chg the setting that u suggested. thanks a lot! -regards, muck
dear david, thats what critics are for. from that pple will learn to improvise. =] thanks for the comments, really appreciate it.
I've been using Thea since it's public Beta and it's been really great and has the benefit of being both biased and unbiased (biased is just as fast as V-Ray and can produce more natural results IMO). Previous to Thea I didn't have much experience with other renderers - just Podium and Kerkythea - as I'm new to rendering (started modelling 4 years ago and rendering 2 years ago). When I decided to take rendering seriously I did demo most of the alternatives, but Thea was the most intuitive to use and produced the best results straight out of the box. Since then Thea has made some really great improvements (the future roadmap is really promising as well) and for the time being I can't see myself using anything else for static archiviz. The only limitation is my own ability, which is why I was looking for some feedback on my Villa PM renders.
Yes, it is my model and you can download it from my website. A more detailed version should be available in the next month or so. You can also view my renders of the house on - I could really do with some advice on how to step my renders up to the next level.
Generous of you ;- ) Thanks. I might use it somehow in free time. I see you are using Thea render. How are you satisfied with it ? I've played around with idea to try another unbiased render in some times, but I am not even able to choose from so many nowadays. Indigo, Maxwell...

Nice render - I like the camera angle, lighting and the use of the neighbouring house. I hope you don't mind me saying but there are a few things that don't work. - The lighting is a little bit too strong and makes the image look a bit like the utput from Lumion. - The repetition of the palm tree is too obvious and you need different plants for variety - You could do with a better sky as the current one looks like a default render engine sky. - The pool is too blue and not transparent enough - It doesn't look like you have done anything with the materials featured in my original model and they lack the depth needed to make a convincing render Sorry if all that sounds a bit harsh, but adressing these issues should help you to improve your rendering skills.
