I think the day time image is really nice actually. I don't think it's too contrasty and sturated.
Personally i think the people are a bit strange in the evening image. I think there are too many and they don't fit with theyr movement and color.I liked the people in the day shot more actually.
These are, i presume, 3d people then? They look pretty good, which library is this?
nope, 2d. more than likely a few got3d in there. but he's made a decent effort in blending their tones into the environment, something a lot of peeps ignore to do. they fit ok, but changing a photo from day to night isn't an easy task, which shows on a couple of peeps. i like the evening image as a whole actually. nice lighting atmos. i agree with the comments above if pitching the picture to sell a product, but just as an image me likey :) whatever though, i'd definately up the whole general lighting atmos, and lower the internal bright yellow bits a tad. the foreground cars work for me, but the road and general environment is too dark. As Dibbs say, dont be afraid of post. for the day time one, the whole image is too contrasty and saturated, and the background phot is too poor quality to hold up. i'd also like to see softer area shadows. i prefer the night one i think. great effort though.
Good work. For the night I think it should be a bit brighter inside and dark outside, sort of a good S curve. I kind of like the last render John posted.

Nothing wrong with doing a bit in Photoshop, even if you are doing an animation just spent 5 minutes playing, hope you dont mind jhv
I have to agree, it does look a little dark outside, like there should be some street lights. Nearest car could be removed as well. I overall like it though, it sets a good mood. I like the latest image more though, well done. John
Thanks for your constructive responses guys...plenty to think about. The lighting and reflections come from a basic skydome with a big luminance value, the rest is tweaked using a Vray camera. One of the reasons we decided to see what we could do without PS is that sometimes we are far too reliant on it, especially when it comes to night and dusk images. This is especially apparent for an animation, so maybe that's something to work on next with this scene :) In the meantime, please have a look at the day version we did that DOES use bits of PS...here and there. We also agreed with Pixela and removed the fgrd car out of the shot with a 16x9 crop.
I would expect the scene to be quite a bit brighter when looking at the sky and the reflections in the car paint etc... I would either adjust your exposure to match the time of day the photo was taken or PS out the sky and replace with something more towards dusk.
i think there is definitely technical brilliance in your materials - i've never seen reflections in the car material done as well - are you using HDR for reflections? the overall mood of the image is a bit dark - but thats maybe what the client was looking for so its hard to critique this well done on getting this far without touching PS (although with PS you probably could've lightened up the image and added some extra touches to it too).
Looks a bit gloomy, and so doesn't do a gret 'sell' for me. Also, don't be pleased about avoiding Photoshop!
Looks very nice, but I think it would be better to have the entrance illuminated to give it more prominence. Also the car park and road look very dark. I would expect this area to be better lit in reality. And I agree, you could afford to lose the car nearest the camera.
Hello, Overall it is a nce work but I think the cars in the foreground is a bit distracting.
Hello John. I like the image and mood. The plants are also well done. the only thing you could improve are the interiors of some of the rooms where the light is on. In the evening with the light one, you should see more of interior. (but maybe you didn;t have time for this.
