I dont know about rendering in revit. I do all my rendering in max. It would be odd if they took gamma out. You should be able to adjust the sun.
RE Gamma, Are we talking the usual MR, or MR in Revit. It looks like they've crippled.... er made user friendly, MR within Revit. I don't seem to be able to find any way to control anything to do with gamma in the either the render settings nor the material dialogue. Gamma doesn't even turn up a result, searching the help. Its such a piss off when the preview of the material looks one colour, then it renders differently. I can't even go in and modify my sun. Next I'm going to see if it's possible to make an artificial light family that I can use as a sun - a la using an direct spot in max in the old days.
Thanks for the lead. Please keep the good info coming. It will all get put to use.
Hard to tell what is going on in mental ray with that watercolor filter. I am assuming you are not using gamma settings. Use them if you are not set them to 2.2. . lots of discussion on this site about gamma do a search. I think you need to put the sun more to one side or more to the front for more contrast.
tried to get better lines out of revit
Changed RPC trees. Tried to NPR it a bit. Kind of blurry. Still working on getting linework out of Revit like printing a 3d view to a flat dwg from sketchup.
Changed the RPC trees. Tried to find the best one. AUGI members tell me that Revit doesn't handle the RPC content at full resolution for some reason.
So, with a lull in Working Drawing production, I had the chance to continue experimenting with a Revit delivery method. I have to say that I am very unhappy with the out of the box RPC trees. They just look like gaussian noise to me. If anyone knows of good trees for Revit 2011 please let me know.
