In my opinion don't use blur but DOF because your blurring give some weird results. I know DOF needs much more time, but worth the try...! I see all your pictures have issues with low resolution modelling and quite weird for the natural look feeling....That's all..!
Adam your images are quite good, but your modelling needs improvement, because some objects look unrealistic and the second more significant observation is that your cameras with this lighting and DOF make the images a little weird and stressful to look. I hope I was helpful.
can you point in which ones.. please ..? do you mean over bright or had many distracting points?..and i realy dont use dof but i blur some reflections.. and idont like steep speculars on furniture..and some times i fake them in post editors.. if you can break it down alittle bit..i will be thankful.
