Under Rendersettings - Quality - Anti-Aliasing Quality, you will find multi-Pixel Filtering. ) Kasper
Thanks!
Thanks Kasper, I'll tweak it out. But the multi pixel filtering, I'm not familiar with and I don't recall seeing that in Maya 2011/2012.

Looks good David I think you could tighten up ur AO: lower max distance and up the samples. To get rid of the blurriness you could change the multi pixel filtering from gauss to mitchell, and on all your textures set filter type to off. This should get rid of the burriness but you will probably then need to up the Anti-Aliasing sample level. Kasper
Yeah, the door knob does look big on the left. I think it is the result of the camera angle, and perhaps the reflections. I played w/it for awhile, but couldn't tune it in. I'm not familiar w/cut mull or cooked variables. And the blurriness, I have no idea where that is coming from. Again, it may be the camera angle or the way the light is entering the room. Thanks for the comments cmrodrigo. David
i also been there the same as your work just one question my partner why is it that the door knob looks big,and the image is blurry is it cutmull or cooked variables the rays of the sun is strong also the color try to play some adjustments and settings..thanks geat start my friend.
Fair enough
@mistrymah: Thank you. I used the physical sun and sky setting in Maya/Mental Ray w/Final Gathering turned on. @Wrender: I do see what your seeing w/the image being dark and details getting lost. The image has an AO layer. The image below is w/out the AO layer. The directional lighting was set in an attempt to mimic an early morning sunrise, based off info obtained from NOAA's solar position calculator. The lighting appears too bright w/out the AO layer. I dunno. I fiddled w/it for a couple days trying to obtain the look I was after. In the end, I produced two images, one with & one without. @rac2181: 7.21 feet is a high door. Doors that high are mostly seen in custom built homes and commercial spaces.
Thats why they look low, the standard height here is 2200mm or 7.21 feet... anyway its up to you, they look strangely low to me
I think the image is fairly blurry. I would also pump up the light levels in the room quite a bit. So dark that you lose a significant amount of detail.
nice work.. may I ask what did u use for lighting vray sun or Direct Light..?
Make the doors higher? Why? The room is to scale (in feet) and the doors/door jams are 6ft 8in, which is the measurement I took from the bedroom & bathroom doors in my own home. And the door knobs are at the proper height. The doors may appear to be skewed or shorter due to the angle of the camera. However, I don't see it, and I don't believe they need to be any higher. Most standard homes and apartments here have doors heights between 6ft 5in to 6ft 9in w/widths ranging from 2ft (for closets) to 3ft. David
