Not bad. I find the lighting to be deceiving. The scene gives the impression of having some kind of architectural skylight above the room, but there isn't one. Keep plugging away. We all keep getting better with time.

well your first V-Render is very good then. but, yea there is a problem in this scene (blur, and other thing which my other fellows pointed out) well share ur render setting i believe that there is a problem about blur, other wise u can give sharpen in photoshop as well.

I use the standard primitive object >> box >> increase the number of segment of each side (length, width and height)
Change the standard primitive into vray >> vray fur. Then, go to the modifier >> set the length of the fur, height, gravity (you can see it in your viewport as your change that you've made to). Change the knots to the higher numbers. Knots are like segments, higher means that your fur can be bended better. Use the distribution of the fur to per area (I use 10 in this scene, but You can experiment to make it better as you wish). Then apply the material to your carpet.. (the box and also the vray fur).
Hope this helpful for you... Thanks ^^

Here is a good tutorial on creating leather materials:

I agree with the comment about the scene being too dark. I'm curious: why on your first vray render would you go for a night-time artificial lighting scheme? For beginners, (and not that I am an expert) I definitely recommend daytime illumination. More light also cuts down on noise and would help you with your graininess problem.
Also, I would change the color of that rug. It is the brightest, most saturated color in the scene and your eye goes straight to it. It is ok to have a strong accent color, but it doesn't really work in this case: change it to an earth tone to match the room and I think you'll see a vast improvement.

I wouldn't say it is all evermotion, defo the bed. I would say the room is a bit dark and doesnt look very attractive to the eye.

Hi There. Not bad at all. It is a bit noisy (grainy) but you need to experiment with AO settings to get a better result with the expense of rendering time. Also try http://www.vray-materials.de/ for leather material.
