I used round corners on most materials here but as you can see it can't make up for the randomness of real geometry with some proper work done on it. There is no glow shader either. I used PS to add the glow
Quick question: Did you use a glow shader to achieve that light wrap effect or did you generate that in photoshop?
Very nice images. I agree with making the railings and edges not too perfect (if you had to go back and do it again). One quick way would be to use your arch and design materials (if that is what you used) and to enable the rounded edges option) It just rounds off that sharp edges of straight objects without adding more geometry. Just an idea. Good work.
given time ivies can grow over anything, which is my aim in making such an ill maintained and neglected building. Thank you for the reply though
The focal point in first image is right at the tree, there the viewers' eyes would go there first and stay there without wondering around the image. One suggestion is to shift the focal point to the building or other interesting elements in the scene. Lighting is good! And by the way, I don't think ivy can grown on the glass surface? (maybe I haven't seen it yet) :)
you are right the geometry needs some proper ravaging in some places to show age but I refrained from doing this due to time constraints. as for softer shadows I used mental ray for those but the effect itself is also possible with the MR sun. Thanks for your reply
I like the ambience of the images. For me I would roughen up the geometry a bit as it looks too perfect, especially the railings in attachment no.1. Also it wouldn't hurt to make the sun shadows a bit softer - increase the sun size in the vray sun settings. David -------------------------------- 3d-dave.blogspot.com
more images from the same project, hope you guys like them. any suggestions are more than welcome as I want to improve on my work
Thank you. This is kind of restricted shot you are right. I chose it for artistic purposes only. The trees are simply free models from seek.autodesk.com. I grabbed all the textures from google image searches. No fancy stuff or specialized collections. Thanks for your commetn though. I will post more soon :)
Karim, looks like it's fairy detailed scene, yet it doesn't show the building at all. Try some different composition ;- ). What are those trees btw ? Very nice models.
