10 Design is a brand new cutting edge architectural firm based in Hong Kong. I have been invited to come aboard to build an internal production department specializing in architectural visual communication. This short piece showcases selected projects done during the infancy of our department which at the time, comprised of only myself and my genius side-kick, Jon Martin.
Generally we only get a week or so to produce anything between 2 to 3 minutes of full CG animation. In most cases we also had to included 2D motion graphics and other multimedia to effectively communicate any given project.
Using a wide range of techniques from the vfx, production and gaming industries, we where able to effectively achieve fairly acceptable results in an extremely short period of time. The end results are not quite at the level we would want, as we had to cut quite a few corners with respects to rendering and modelling, yet are proud of what we have achieved with the time-frames we where accosted with.
Hopefully as our team grows (We are now at 4 and still hiring, wink, wink..), we may revisit these early projects and take them to the level they truly deserve.
