About Alex Collins

Full portfolio: https://www.artby.space/archviz I graduated from the University of Florida in 2016 with a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering. I then went on to study in the Ph.D. program in Biomedical Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2016 to 2017. Now, as you may have noticed by glancing at my resume, I had a career change in 2017. I had decided to take a break from the engineering and sciences industry to pursue something in the entertainment industry. I had decided to use my connections and experience in the music/entertainment industry to help upcoming artists with their public appearance as it pertained to their music catalogue and social media presence. I used my knowledge and skills in data analytics to help further their pursuits and become more well-known. Working as a consultant in these matters really helped to solidify my self-discipline, and made sure that I was constantly working and always being a self-starter. I eventually took my skills in 3D modeling from engineering to artwork, learning more software to then make intricate 3D graphics for album artwork for these musicians. I learned software like SketchUp, Photoshop, and primarily Cinema 4D. I used my new skillset to become a freelance 3D artist. Starting out doing commission work for album covers for other musicians, I then was able to use my skills working as part of a team on larger projects. I have worked on music videos for CJ Wallace, as well as 3D modeling for an app with Siragusa Apparel and a commercial concept for Sneaker Shields. I am now looking to shift into the architecture and interior design industry using my new and previous skillsets. I have bought several textbooks detailing concepts related to architecture and interior design, such as Architectural Drafting & Design by Alan Jeffries, Facilities Planning by Tompkins and White, Interiors: An Introduction by Karla Neilson, and The Works: Anatomy of a City by Kate Ascher. These are just some of the books I have started reading as I want to learn more about these industries. I am a voracious reader with a natural curiosity.
