Lake Vesijärvi

We were glad to assist Architects Davidsson Tarkela in a competition to transform the industrial area on the shores of Lake Vesijärvi in Niemi into a residential district.

The aim of the competition was to find a high quality and feasible solution for the implementation of the project in terms of urban landscape and architecture, in which adaptation to the cultural environment and functional, techno-economic and energy efficiency objectives is achieved in a balanced way.

The competition task was undoubtedly challenging as participants has to plan the re-design of 15.5 hectares (155,000 square metres) of land. The complete transformation of the area into a modern living district is expected to take place over 20 years.

It was exciting and challenging task for us to arrange visual representation of architectural work on such huge-scale area.
